Hi Everyone!

I am extremely excited to introduce you to the newest addition to TruPrevention…Mandy Tyler. She will be a resident blogger on this site. Mandy is a registered dietitian and licensed athletic trainer with a pretty amazing background (she is also my neighbor…how cool is that!). She is pretty modest too. When she is talking about “teams” in the San Antonio area…she worked with the pro basketball team the Spurs. She’ll work with me to give food for thought (yes, pun intended) and answer questions about health and nutrition…just ask! So with no further ado, here is Mandy!

Hi! My name is Mandy Tyler and I am excited to be the TruPrevention Registered Dietitian. I am so grateful to Donna for getting the TruPrevention Blog started, as I feel her mission to preserve health and prevent disease is exactly what our community and the nation as a whole needs.

So, to tell you a little bit about me. I am a mommy to a precious 2-year old girl and wife to the most kind and supportive husband you can imagine. I was born and raised in San Antonio, so Texas is what I know. I have had a passion for nutrition and fitness since high school and knew early on that I wanted to pursue a career in this field. I got my Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Austin, am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian, a Licensed Athletic Trainer, and a Certified Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine.

My educational background along with my passion for sports and fitness has provided me with the opportunity to offer sports nutrition consulting services to athletes and teams in the San Antonio area. I focus on teaching the athletes I work with the importance of nutrition combined with a proper training program to improve performance, prevent injury, and promote overall health and wellness. I truly believe the key to reaching one’s full potential, both in everyday life and in sports performance, relies on a healthy nutritional foundation.

In addition to my work in sports nutrition I have also done work with children and school nutrition programs. I feel it is crucial that we work with our youth to provide nutrition education. If we are going to look at prevention as a model, I definitely believe we need to place a special focus on our kids.

I look forward to learning from each of you in the coming months as we move towards our goal of “TruPrevention.”

Healthy Regards,

Mandy
