Motivation, The Difference Between the Couch and the Olympics

sochi-2014-logo-4Anyone following the Olympics? I’m catching highlights here and there. Really wish I was watching more, but phew by the time the kids are down, fed animals, picked-up the house and prepped for the next day, I’m wiped out. However, the little bits I see reminds me of the dedication they put forward for 4 years for this one shot to be named the best of the best.

Life sometimes takes over…

Hi Everyone!

Well, I’m sure everyone is wondering exactly what happened to us.  Not to fear, life just caught us a little bit and we’re getting ourselves on track.  I am handling life as single mommy, work full-time and TruPrevention.  Mandy is soon to be mommy of 2 and we’re anxiously counting down the days until we get to meet their little boy.  Dr. Edwards is in transition in his work.  So needless to say, sometimes life takes over and we just have to flex with it.

However, we may not be recently consistent, but we are definitely committed to TruPrevention.  So, you’ll start seeing the information flowing again!  Thank you for keeping with us.  Our passion to “share the health” remains strong!

IvanHi Everyone!

I am so excited to introduce you to our newest edition to the team, Dr. Ivan Edwards!  He is a board certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists (the fancy dancy name is a Physiatrist) that has interest in electrodiagnostics, musculoskeletal medicine and minimally invasive pain management.  Now that’s a mouthful…bottom line, this guy looks at all of you “medically, socially, emotionally and vocationally” (to quote the AAPM&R website) and treats accordingly.  He also has a deep interest in overall health and wellness.

I met him during my time as a Air Force Reserve nurse working at Lackland AFB here in San Antonio.  He’s is one of the most diverse and interesting people I have met.Â

I did update the Handy Information and Recipe sections recently.  So, please check it out.

As far as the business, we are just finishing the TruPrevention Logo.  A HUGE thank you to Cassie Rangel!  This gal has some serious talent.  She has been working with me on the logo for the last couple months and has done a wonderful job of taking my woeful descriptions and turning them into a visible concept.  Keep an eye out….you’ll see this girls work in a gallery one day!

So, thank you for you patience and understanding.  We might be a bit slow on the information download over the next month, but don’t despair it will pick back up.

Beware What’s In Your Drink…

As a parent and a dietitian one area that greatly concerns me is the amount of sugar-sweetened beverages that our culture, and children in particular, are consuming.  I think most parents recognize that sodas contain a lot of sugar and are beverages that kids should only be consuming on special occasions.  However, I think many parents are misguided into believing that juice drinks are a necessary and healthy part of a child’s diet.
