Moderation…ARRRGGGHHHH….What Is It?

Everytime I hear the words, “As long as it is in moderation”, I cringe. I think when I decided it was just a crappy word was when I saw Corn Association sponsored commercial, touting that high fructose corn syrup in “moderation” was fine to incorporate into a diet. Seriously!?! At that moment I struck the word from my mental dictionary, forever banning it from rolling off my tongue. But, for the sake of this post I’ll use it in effort to create lots of discussion and maybe start a movement to ban the word from the dictionary (okay, that might be a little over the top…but you get my point).

Excuse Me…Size Does Matter!

My husband and I decided that is was time to get rid of the hodgepodge of various plates and bowls that were chipped, held together by super glue, or just the last one of the bunch left. We found a set we liked and brought it home. When I opened the box I was shocked by the size of the bowl. I pulled out our old bowl, put them side by side and saw this…

Super Cereal

This is a huge hit in our house. Lots of fiber and antioxidants. The beauty is that you can make endless creations. Wish I could take credit for it, but the original recipe below is from the Engine 2 Diet. However, you can use whatever fruit you want. We use blueberries, strawberries, bananas, kiwi, mango, cantaloupe, raspberries, blackberries in different combinations. For cereals, we also use the Fiber One twigs and Cascadian Farms or Kashi cereals. Tip: For ease we actually mix up the various cereals in a big container. About 1/3 of 4 boxes of cereal fit into a large cereal container. This is recipe is for 1 person, but it makes a huge amount! We made it according to the recipe below and we couldn't finish a bowl. We use about 1/2 - 3/4 cup of the cereal mix and only 1/4 - 1/2 banana, if we use one. Please note: Grapefruit is not compatible with many medications. If you are unsure, please check with your medical provider.

Getting Comfortable with Uncomfortable

When I trained new clients and I was pushing them a little bit, they would make comments such as “You have no idea how hard it is to start because you work out all the time”. Granted there was truth to it, but it was my job to challenge them and I chalked it up to them having to get over mental barriers. I had no idea I would soon be able to fully relate to how they were feeling.
