Greek Yogurt Pancakes
One step, and then another, and then another…
You’re asking and I’m listening! Seems all this talk about change has inquiring minds wanting to know how to start. Well, let’s talk about it…
Thank You Body…
I was not always fond of jogging…
When I was in high school I played basketball. Yes, there was lots and lots of sprints, suicides and laps around the gym…but those were done in short bursts and my mind was focused on getting that damn ball! In college I decided to join a gym. I loved lifting weights, but wasn’t too sure about the treadmill. (For the record, I’m a country gal…growing up, the gym was my backyard.) I got the nerve up to try one out and after about 10 min I was off it. I really hated that gasping for air feeling.
Comfort in our Misery
I was reading a comment on my post yesterday and the last line stood out at me. “Our default response is to maintain our norm, even if we know we’re doing the wrong things.” It made me think of the saying “comfort in our misery”.
Are we socially pushed to be healthy?
The other day I was in the locker room after my workout, getting ready for work. Two ladies were having a conversation about their dogs and how they can’t even spell the word “walk” without them getting all excited and heading for the door. They were amazed that they could figure it out and one of them stated “The dog doesn’t watch TV to know he should be exercising.”
Administrative Housekeeping
Hi Everyone!
Hope you all had a safe and wonderful 4th of July!
As I’ve told you in the beginning, I’m new to WordPress and learning bits all the time. So, you will see the site slowly start to morph with new additions and upgrades. I took the holiday weekend to put my brain to the test and organize the site so it is more user friendly.
The Underachiever’s Club
I’ve trained a wide variety of people over the years, ranging from the marathoner to the grandmother. When I taught college I would frequently tell them, “You don’t have to be skilled in motivating an athlete, you have to be skilled in knowing when to pull them back.” Athlete’s are driven to continuously strive to do better…they are overachievers.
The “Democratic” Grocery Store
How many of you are truly aware of what you buy when you make a trip to the grocery store? Do you have certain brands you consistently buy? Or do you just throw whatever looks good at that moment in effort to get out of there in record time?Â
Healthy restaurants…do they really exist?
As you probably guess, I’m not a fast food connoisseur. I think the extent of it is a pizza place…there’s nothing better than a thin crusted slice of veggie pizza. So when we go out to eat after a long week at work, we try to go somewhere that has health options. One of our favorite places in San Antonio to go is a near by Greek restaurant , Papapouli’s. They have won numerous awards for their healthy recipes. Now, I will tell you that I always wondered how healthy is healthy. Just because it is fresh made doesn’t mean it is not laden with fat and sodium. I mean, seriously, McDonalds has yogurt parfaits as a “healthy option” and one bite will tell you that there is enough sugar in one to make 5 kids hyperactive.
